When Jerry Ensminger’s daughter Janey passed away from a rare form of Leukemia at age 9 in 1985, Jerry embarked on a quest to find answers. Jerry is a retired Marine Master Sergeant who was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Jerry soon realized that the water supply at Camp Lejeune was highly contaminated with benzene, industrial solvents and many other chemicals known to cause cancer. Since his daughter’s death on the base, there have been over 100 cases of male breast cancer and other cancers. In August of 2012 President Obama signed Jerry’s bill in to law. Known as the Janey Ensminger Act; the bill provides health care compensation to those exposed to the contaminated water at Camp Lejeune and have suffered from health problems as a result. Jerry’s journey is observed and exposed in the revolutionary documentary Semper Fi: Always Faithful. Trevor’s Trek Foundation is bringing the story of Jerry’s incredible journey to the Egyptian Theatre on April 12th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. We hope you will join us for this free screening and meet Jerry Ensminger in person!
