A few steps can turn into a mile. A mile can become a milestone by raising public awareness of the alarming rise of childhood cancer.

Board of Directors

Trevor Schaefer:

Trevor Schaefer is a brain cancer survivor.  He was born on October 19,1989 in San Diego, California. His family relocated to McCall, Idaho in 1995.  He lived a fairy tale life, spending time with family and friends boating on Payette Lake in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.  Trevor’s childhood changed dramatically in November of 2002 when he was diagnosed with brain cancer.  He moved to Boise, Idaho to be close to his doctors at St. Lukes after undergoing brain surgery.  He endured 14 months of intense chemotherapy and radiation treatments.  As Trevor’s health steadily improved his focus turned towards wanting to give back to children who are battling cancer.  He started Trevor’s Trek Foundation in September of 2007.  Trevor is a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho and was involved in helping to create the Childhood Cancer Strategic Plan for the Comprehensive Cancer Alliance for Idaho.  Trevor is also the Youth Ambassador for the National Disease Cluster Alliance. Trevor Graduated from Boise High School in 2008 and is currently attending Boise State University.  He devotes much of his time to his foundation.  In his free time Trevor enjoys golfing and spending time outdoors.

Charlie Smith:

Charlie Smith was born and raised in Southern California.  She moved to McCall, Idaho in 1995 where she resided until November of 2002 at which point her youngest son Trevor was diagnosed with brain cancer.  Charlie relocated to Boise, Idaho where Trevor was successfully treated for his illness at St. Lukes Hospital.  Charlie’s personal experience of having a child with a life threatening illness bolstered her into wanting to do something to give back.  Together with her son Trevor they founded Trevor’s Trek Foundation.  Charlie is a board member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho and is involved with the Comprehensive Cancer Alliance for Idaho.  She is also on the board of the National Disease Cluster Alliance(NDCA).  Charlie’s passion is to focus not only on childhood cancer awareness and cures, but to also address probable causes of this disease, such as environmental factors.

Chris Gould:

Chris Gould was born and raised in McCall, Idaho, and moved to Boise, Idaho in 2000. Chris has been a friend of Trevor and Charlie since early childhood. When Trevor was diagnosed with cancer Chris was in and out of the hospital with Trevor as he fought his way to survivorship every step of the way. A few years later Chris’s grandfather passed away from cancer and that inspired him to help fight against cancer. Chris graduated from Borah High School in 2008 with 20 college level credits in Business, and a certificate of Marketing from Boise State University where he currently attends. In his free time he enjoys mountain biking and hanging out with friends.
